William Ginn

William Ginn is an experienced Chief Financial Officer who has successfully led and managed the finance function in a range of telecommunications businesses in UK and overseas. He has served on the Boards of publicly traded and private companies and, in addition to his financial management skills, has a proven track record of business restructuring and integrations.
In 2007 Dr.Ginn participated in an MBI of the network service and ISP business units of Siemens Enterprise Communications Limited in the UK. This led to the creation of Solution 1, a major provider of IP managed telecommunications solutions for businesses in the UK. Dr.Ginn is CFO of Solution 1.
From 2005-2006, he was Vice President, Finance for Global Crossing UK Limited, which has the third-largest telecommunications network in the UK. In this main Board role as the company's principal financial officer, he guided the business through its first year as a public company presenting results and strategy to bondholders, potential investors and major customers. He planned and executed the introduction of SAP, as a replacement for Oracle, as the company's financial recording system and ensured the company's compliance with new financial regulations, for example Sarbanes-Oxley.
From 2002-2004, in USA, Dr. Ginn was Chief Financial Officer for Cable & Wireless America, a significant operating subsidiary (annual revenue $800 million) of the Cable & Wireless Group. In this role, he was responsible for a team of 200 and functions including accountancy, tax, property, risk management, customer collections and procurement. As a Board Member, he played a key role in the restructuring, turnaround and subsequent successful sale of the business, introducing rigorous cash-management and capital approval processes, as well as managing $30 million procurement-negotiated savings over and above the annual plan.
From 2000-2002, he held Vice President, Finance roles in Cable & Wireless' Global division, firstly as Head of Finance for the Global Carrier Services Business Unit (annual turnover $3 billion) and subsequently as Head of Finance for the Markets Group (annual turnover $5 billion) where he managed a team of accountants based in UK, Paris, Washington, Tokyo, Hong Kong and India.
Dr. Ginn holds an MA from Cambridge University and a PhD from the University of Kent. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
