Roy Polley has over 20 years senior management experience in the international telecommunications industry and has operated successfully at Board level in National Telcos, turnaround businesses and new launches. He is skilled in marketing, product management, business development, restructuring and integration and has extensive experience of working in partnerships with host Governments around the world. Nearly half of his career has been spent working overseas in the Middle East, USA and Japan and he has also undertaken successful assignments in the Caribbean, South Africa, Russia and Europe.
Prior to co-founding CPS Partners, he was Commercial Director for Cable & Wireless' Middle East, Monaco and Islands region consisting of 16 businesses with total annual turnover of £300 million - with specific responsibility for regional development in which role he established Cable & Wireless' new entrant fixed services business in Jersey - and also held the key role of Deputy Chairman of Batelco, Bahrain's National Telco and largest listed company with a market cap of $3 billion.
Previously from 2002-2004 Mr.Polley was Senior Vice President Products, Marketing and Partners at Cable & Wireless America where he was responsible for 5 of the primary functions key to the successful turnaround of the company and its subsequent sale to Savvis for $155 million.
Mr.Polley worked in Japan from 1998-2002, holding Board level positions in Cable & Wireless IDC (Japan's No 2 international services operator) including Vice President Products and Partners where he was responsible for the company's entry into the domestic market through the establishment of a fibre based Customer Access Network which connected more than 400 key office buildings in central Tokyo within 12 months; and Vice President Carrier Business, establishing the wholesale business unit from scratch and growing it to a turnover of $100 million.
His previous Middle East experience includes a senior role in managing the international services operator in the Yemen coupled with wide-reaching new business development expertise in the region, including the direction of Cable & Wireless' successful bid (value $400 million) to acquire a 40% strategic stake in the Jordan Telecommunications Company. He has extensive experience at Joint Venture Boards including mobile businesses in Pakistan, S.Africa and Russia and fixed/mobile businesses in Yemen, Maldives and Bahrain.
Mr.Polley holds an MA from University College, Oxford.
